Gopalrao Vidwans

Gajaananrao's two younger sons, Gopaalrao and Bhaaskarrao Vidwans are truly the patriarchs of our clan of Vidwans family. Both these brothers were Gandhians to their core, and completely believed in and practiced Gandhi's philosophy and teachings throughout their lives. Both were men of letter and both extensively worked in the field of education and literature.

Gopaalrao was a man of principles and lived very meticulous life. As a profession he translated fictional short stories and large, thick novels from Marathi into Gujarati. Marathi was his mother tongue and Gujarati he acquired through domicile and education. About 75 translations of large books are listed to his credit. He was married to Sumatibaai and the two had more than fifty years of wedded life, and were survived by three sons and a daughter. Sumatibaai was a very kind homemaker.
